You will be forced to run the Release Date Check (RDC) program which ultimately will fail when it reaches 30% of the check. The game will then automatically update Visual C++ components and then DirectX irrespective of what is already on your computer - just let the program do this (it is now that the first disc is requested). When prompted, insert the second disc and then when ready, reinsert the first game disc to complete the procedure.
(2) The InstallShield Wizard begins and installs the game. The main installer screen appears, just follow through the various questions for setting up and accepting the licensing agreement. When the program begins, accept the installation and then select the language. (1) Put the GTA-IV disc in and let it run.
Okay, the reloading procedure as follows: I suggest that once you create the ControlMap.dat file to go back into this directory (you can do this while the game is running if you wish) and copy it to a secure location like a memory stick along with a text file with the directory string in it so you can find it later if you need too, or if you corrupt the key bindings. Then look for a directory called user_ which should contain the ControlMap.dat file. Under Windows 7, the save game (and the key binding file) can be found in a directory which can be found at:Ĭ:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ GTA-IV and EFLC also share the same save game directory and the same key bindings so the key bindings file (ControlMap.dat) once set-up (see image above for mine) applies to all of the games irrespective of which one is loaded and being played. Those of you who installed GTA-IV and EFLC before 2013 will probably remember that the Social Club application would create a loading screen that allows you to launch all three games from one screen, well, that has since been discontinued. The first thing you need to know is that each game can be installed independently of the other and contains the whole map irrespective of which game you install. Note also that I used the disc version of Grand Theft Auto IV and EFLC ( Grand Theft Auto IV - The Complete Edition) to install the games. I'll describe here how I did it, but I wish to note that the following may not work for everyone so consider this a general solution as opposed to an absolute. I recently managed to get Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City ( The Lost and Damned / The Ballard of Gay Tony) to run under Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit although it was a bit of a chore to do so because Rockstar Games decided when they originally released these games to include a security system called SecuROM on the discs to check the release date because they were concerned about piracy of their games.
